Hello!
I love art in every form I can experience it! I have been painting for many, many years. I started with painting abstract art. Although I still love a good abstract, crazy piece of art, I have evolved from abstract to trying my creativity at drawing people!
Around 2008 I began painting vases. I was not very serious about it, I just enjoyed the creativity. People then asked me to paint one for their living rooms, dining room tables. Someone asked,”Why are you doing this for free???” Lightbulb!
Along with painting abstract art, vases, decorating my home, family weddings and events I was still creating jewelry www.createdcollection.com.
I learned how to crochet when I was around 11 years old and have made a few blankets for my girls when they were born. Around 2009 I started crocheting scarves, then I took up knitting and arm knitting. THEN I was sewing scarves!!!! Whew… Where did I find the time as a mom, full time job and kids homework! I guess I just love creating!
Where do I get it from?
Before the 2020 pandemic I started practicing butterflies and flowers. Then I watched videos on how to draw eyes, eyebrows, lips etc. Then April 4, 2020 I lost my beautiful mother. In my sadness, still in the “stay at home”, I would sit on my patio for hours and draw, draw, draw.
My mom was such a creative person! She loved colors of every shade. She was not one to ever wear blacks or grays as an everyday outfit. She was a seamstress and that’s where I get my love for creativity!
You’ll see in my gallery I’ve painted her pieces of art for her home. Love you much mom! I miss you every day!!!
Types of art
I love to make pieces of art from anything! My mom was a “trash to treasure” creator as well. She’ll get a table from a garage sale and say in a soprano voice “SPRAY PAINT”. LOL!!
I carry that same “trash to treasure” creativity. If I want something creative like this lamp for my daughters room, I went to the Goodwill and got this lamp for $5. Went to the fabric store and got the tulle for the ballerina tutu and just kept creating until I loved it!
Currently I use a variety of mediums to create artwork; acrylic paint, alcohol ink, glitter, jewelry, buttons, ribbons, color pencils and much more.
My “9 to 5”
I love art, but my first, first love is technology!! I have been in the technology field for over 25 years. Our first computer was when I was 8 years old. We had an Apple PC with the A and B drive, MS Dos screen. Nothing like the pretty UI we have today. Super dated!!! I am a tech nerd in every way, working in departments from web design to IT Specialist to IT computer instructor. And yes, I am a Marvel and DC NERD!!!!
Where am I available?
I am currently online or at various vendor venues. I do not not have a gallery open to the public (yet). I do my best to post clear photos of a piece so you can see the colors and details as crisp as possible.
Where to now?
Recently, in 2021, I began a rebranding of my business. Instead of having everything clumped into one website I have decided to split each sector of what I do into 3 websites:
- Created Collection: www.createdcollection.com
- J Nina Beauty Supply: www.jninabeautysupply.com
- Jeanine Ellis Art Gallery: www.jeanineellis.com
This has proven to be the best way for my customers to see products I offer.
I still do vendor events and maintain my social media presence. Will I ever have a physical store? Well… we’ll see!
